Trillium Medicaid Providers: Take the 2024 Social Needs Screening Inventory Survey By October 31

Trillium is launching this Social Needs Screening Inventory Survey to gather responses necessary to pass the new Social Needs Screening and Referral CCO incentive metric. The survey will be used to conduct an environmental scan to help us identify how members are being seen, the capacity of health-related social needs referrals, resources available, and the gaps that must be addressed.

Organizations who complete this survey by October 31 may be eligible to earn a bonus which is outlined within Trillium's 2024 CCO Quality Pool Bonus Funds Program. Thank you for your partnership in helping our members stay healthy.

Note: If you would like to gather the information before taking the online survey, please view the Social Needs Screening Inventory Survey in PDF format.

Public Health Alerts: Pertussis, mpox, and Marburg Virus

Pertussis in Oregon
According to the State of Oregon Health Alert Network, as of October 1, 2024, 614 cases of pertussis have been reported to the Oregon Health Authority (compared to 29 cases at this time in 2023). Already this represents the highest annual total since 2012, when 910 cases were reported. In the intervening years, annual pertussis case counts have been as low as 3 cases in 2021 and as high as 593 in 2015.

Among the 19 counties with reported pertussis to date in 2024, Lane County leads with 198 cases, followed by Multnomah (126), Clackamas (84), Deschutes (56), Washington (44), Marion (38), Jefferson (16), Linn (15), Columbia (6), Coos (5), Yamhill (5), Polk (4), Hood River (3), Jackson (3), Wasco (3), Benton (2), Malheur (2), and Crook (1).

Data from January through October 1 indicate that only 265 (43%) of this year’s cases have been up-to-date with vaccination.

Updated CDC mPox vaccination guidance
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) Advisory on September 23rd recommending mpox vaccination for certain travelers.

To learn more, view the State of Oregon's Health Alert Network: Updated CDC mpox vaccination for travelers (PDF).

First Marburg Virus Disease Outbreak in the Republic of Rwanda
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is issuing this Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Advisory (PDF) to inform clinicians and health departments about the Republic of Rwanda’s first confirmed outbreak of Marburg virus disease (MVD) with 36 laboratory confirmed cases and 11 deaths reported as of October 2, 2024, including at least 19 cases in healthcare workers. This report summarizes the CDC’s recommendations for public health departments and clinicians in the United States on case identification and testing and clinical laboratory biosafety considerations. Currently, the risk of MVD in the United States is low; however, clinicians should be aware of the potential for imported cases.

As always, we deeply appreciate the valuable work that you are doing for our Trillium members and our community at large. At the top of each survey, you will find contact information for Emma St. Clair and Erinn Stevens. Please reach out to both of them directly if you have any questions or concerns.
