Who Are Traditional Health Workers?
Traditional Health Workers (THWs) work in community-based organizations and schools, as well as physical health, behavioral health and dental providers’ offices. They can assist you in getting services and care that support your health and wellbeing. Often, they can meet you where you are whether it be in your home, shelter, or within the community.
Traditional Health Workers walk beside you in your healthcare journey. They may help you:
- Schedule a visit with your provider
- Find a ride to a medical appointment
- Connect to local resources
- Support you with recovery in mental health and addiction
You do not need pre-approval or a referral to see a THW.
